Punjab Technical Institution’s Sports (PTIS) works under the aegis of Technical Education and Industrial Training Department, Punjab with Director of department as the Chief Patron of this prestigious body. It was established in 1958 with just 9 colleges as its member institutes. But, with the passage of time the strength of member institutes kept rising and at present more than 100 Government, Govt. Aided and Self financed Polytechnic Colleges, Pharmacy and special trade institutes, affiliated to ‘Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training’ are member institutes of PTIS.
Formed, initially to conduct inter-college athletic events only, the organization have come a long way by expanding its area of operation in the fields of major sports like Hockey, Cricket, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Handball, Football, Basketball, Table-Tennis, Badminton and Kabaddi along with Athletics/Track & Field events.
PTIS also holds state level Youth festival for boys and girls, where students participate from all over Punjab and exhibit their talent and creativity in events like Giddha, Bhangra, Solo Dance, Folk Song, Choreography, Shabad Gayan and Poem Recitation etc.
State level Tech-Fest has also become an integral part of PTIS events since 2007. Tech-Fest is conducted at the end of every academic session, which is a suitable platform for the young and budding technical intellect of Punjab to showcase their technical skills and competency in Project Display and Paper-Presentation events.
State level Job fairs are organized by PTIS where reputed National and Multinational companies get an opportunity to interact with promising young technical brains of Punjab directly and recruit them in their organizations.
PTIS aims to ensure overall development of students by inculcating the spirit of self discipline, self confidence, teamwork and highest level of moral values, while keeping their physical health and academic standards par excellence.
